About the Artist
A. Murugesan
Born in Tamil Nadu, India, drawing was a passion for Murugesan from his early schooldays. Driven by this passion, he completed a course in drawing from a reputed school in Chennai through correspondence. His wife's diplomatic career enabled him to visit and experience life in different countries. He was deeply impressed by the Dutch school of painting.
He took to painting in the year 1997 in Holland where he joined the Art School in Koorenhuis, Centre for Art and Culture, in The Hague. After completing the basic art course where he had fun learning all the mediums, he shifted to watercolours and learnt the medium for a year. Since then he has been painting, as he moved on, in different countries.
Starting with Holland, his paintings capture landscapes as he continued on his journey through Zambia, Ukraine, India, USA, Cyprus and now Great Britain! Previous Exhibitions: Lusaka, Zambia (2002) and Kiev, Ukraine (2006).
Artist's Statement: 'The freshness and immediacy of watercolours, their translucency and vibrancy always attracted me, Though difficult to master, watercolour kindles my passion and throws a challenge every time I approach the paper with paint. I hope you enjoy the paintings as much I enjoyed painting them!
